A travel hub
Odawara has a shinkansen station, so you can be in Tokyo in 30 minutes for shopping, gallery hopping or dining out.
It also means you are well poised to travel further afield, if you want to spend a few days in somewhere like Kyoto or Hiroshima.
Surrounded by nature
Odawara has beaches with views of the Pacific Ocean, but also mountains and Onsen next door in Hakone, and views of Mt Fuji from its lowland rice fields.
Local ingredients
Odawara is proud of its produce. The local fishmarket is a short bike ride away from Mayu, and the farmer’s market features lots of locally sourced fruit and vegetables.
Citrus fruits are a specialty, with groves dotting the hills, and bags full of seasonal offerings available for extremely cheap prices, often sold on the honour system by unattended roadside stalls. Lots of Odawara restaurants take pride in making use of local ingredients.
History everywhere
Odawara flourished as a castle town in the 16th century. The area’s infrastructure and culture developed steadily under powerful samurai leadership.
Historic ruins from this time can be found around every corner. In the Meiji period Odawara was a popular getaway for politicians and businessmen, resulting in many beautiful buildings and gardens which have been converted into public attractions.
storied artisans
Odawara also has a long history of craftmanship, and you can find local artisans specialising in woodworking, metallurgy, lacquerware, paper lanterns and more. Some of these artisans can trace their craft back through their family for generations.

From Haneda Airport
1) Haneda airport --- Keikyu line --- Yokohama station --- JR Tokaido line --- Odawara station
(about 120 minutes)
2) Haneda airport --- Keikyu line --- Shinagawa station --- Shinkansen -- -Odawara station
(about 50 minutes)
We can pick you up from Haneda airport by car for an additional fee, or otherwise we will pick you up when you arrive at Odawara station.
From Narita airport
Narita airport --- Skyliner --- Ueno station --- JR Ueno Tokyo line --- Odawara station
(about 150 minutes)
